Traffic
Traffic is getting people to your site. It's not going to do you any good to just create a
website. You've got to get people to visit your site. Every network marketing company I've seen, has a way for its distributors to have their
own personalized website where customers can purchase products, but almost no one generates sales from their website because they don't have
a way to get potential customers to visit the site.
Having a website with out traffic, is like having a McDonalds in the middle of the desert. If there are no roads
to get there, your drive through is going to have no business. It doesn't matter how good your products are or how good your company is, no
one will visit your site unless you have a way for people to get there.
Let me give you a real world example I'm using right now in this very article. I recently created the website www.familybusinesstips.com. It's a Free resource website with Live Teleseminars & Newsletter Articles for families
in network marketing. When I created the site, I spent about a week setting it up, creating pictures, writing content, etc... but I would
have no traffic to my site with out doing something else.
So I write articles that help people in their business and I post those articles at various places on the internet. In return I get
traffic back to my site from these websites. It's a win-win-win. YOU get information that can improve your life, the
sites where I post this article gets free content for their website, and I get free links back to my site. Free
Links means I get Free TRAFFIC!
So for example, my first week here I wrote 5 articles and got 50 people reading my articles in the very first day. Is that good? You Bet!
Out of those 50 people do you think anyone visited my site? Yes, Absolutely!
On a side note, Let's say my articles are available here for a whole year. Can you see how having
thousands of people potentially reading my articles could generate tons of FREE traffic to my website? How much extra work did I do?
None! Once you put an effective online marketing strategy in place, it works 24 hours a day. When you sleep or when you
are awake. It will even make you money, when you're on vacation! How would you like to go to Disney World for a week and MAKE money?
Conversion
Conversion is when someone visits your site, and they take an action. It could mean they
subscribe for your newsletter, fill out a questionaire, or they might actually buy from you on the very first visit. Any of those are
considered 'Conversion'.
As a marketer, the most important thing about Conversion is to get people added to your list. Even if someone
doesn't buy from you while they're at your site, you want to get them added to your newsletter. Statistics show that most people will not buy
on the first visit, but that many will buy later.
If someone doesn't know you, it's feel risky for them to buy something from you on the first visit. So what you
really want to offer people a low risk way for them to get to know you. Newsletters are great for this, because the only
information they have to give is their email address. As they read your newsletter, and they like your content they will be much more open to
buying from you.
Here's a strong word of caution though. Treat that email address as a Trust. If you start spamming people on your list,
they will un-subscribe and report you as a spammer. If you get people reporting your emails as spam, most of your newsletters will end up in
spam filters. No one wants to be spammed, so don't do it.
