The 3 Roadblocks that hold us back in Network Marketing
There are 3 major roadblocks that people encounter in Network Marketing. All of them can be viewed as either show stoppers, or as launch pads. This article will show you how to identify and launch through the blockages to your success.
90% or more of the information out there about building a network marketing business has to do with this vague touchy-feely stuff. Some of it is good, but some of it is really not helpful. Most of it seems to be a vague 'Shoot for the Stars', or 'Rah Rah Rah... You can do it' motivational thinking approach. Personally, I found this to not really be helpful. I have personally experienced road blocks in the following 4 areas.

MINDSET
Most Network Marketing Professionals would agree that your Mindset is the most important part of being successful in MLM. By Mindset we mean, What You Think, or What You Believe.
If you have a breakdown in your mindset, it's like running into an invisible brick wall. Something stops you, but you're not sure what. I would agree that it's critical to have a healthy Mindset. I've seen people with poor skills in Network Marketing be able to build a great home family business because they had a great Mindset.
Specifically, there are 4 Areas of Belief that will affect your business.
- What you Believe about Your Company
- What you Believe about Your Products
- What you Believe about Network Marketing
- What you Believe about Yourself
Take this Test right now. Get out a pen and write down on a scale of 1-10 how you would rate your beliefs.
Rate your Belief in your company. If you feel like the leadership is great, and that it's a solid company, and that you can trust that it's a company that will be there for many years to come... then rate yourself high (8, 9, or 10). If your not sure rate it low.
Rate your Belief in your Products. Are the quality? Are they Unique? Do people want them and need them? If so Rate it high... If you think your products are too expensive rate it lower.
Rate your Belief in Network Marketing. Do you feel there's a stigma with MLM? Do you think it's great? Do you believe that people really can make a lot of money? Or do you believe that everyone looses money? Rate your belief accordingly.
Rate your Belief in yourself. Do you believe that YOU can personally be successful? Do you know that YOU can do this? Rate it, and be honest about it.
What were your results? Did you find any surprises? If you discovered that you have an area that's low, congratulations your normal. Most people learning this business have to do some work on themselves. We usually call it Personal Development.
Here's what you do with this survey. Accept yourself for where you are; and Apply Yourself to improving your low spots. If you are low in some areas... then get some books about that topic. Go to your company events and meet people who's lives have been changed. Seeing other people's results will change how you feel about any of these areas.
Prospecting
Prospecting is the ability to meet people, discover who's really interested, and help them get started. Some people are naturally great at this, and others (like me) have to learn some things. Either way is ok.
I could explain many different models for doing this, but what's really important is that you have a simple system for doing this, and that you work your system. Pick a simple 2 or 3 step process for showing people your products or business, and then ask them to get started.

Leadership
Leadership is how you create LEVERAGE for yourself. I've seen people who were GREAT at prospecting hit a ceiling with their income because they are never able to duplicate themselves in their downline.
Leadership is simply the art of getting things done with other people. A great prospector can sign up 10, 20, 30 people a month, but they will eventually hit a limit to their results. Their income will cap out and no matter how hard they work, they will not find greater results.
Leadership doesn't mean you're general Patton. It just means you're going to focus more on Helping your Team move forward. When you start leading, you focus more on moving people and less on moving products.
Instead of just setting your own goals, you help your team set THEIR own goals. When you do this, Their Goals become Your Goals. It doesn't mean you do more. It just means what you do more with your team.
When you lead your team like this, you will start duplicating yourself. That's where the magic really happens. When you have a business where you duplicate yourself, you can take a vacation for a month and come back with a higher income. It's the way network marketing is SUPPOSED to work!
The first step to launching through a blockage is simply to identify the blockage. Believe me, that's the hardest part... figuring out what's been holding you back. Next call your upline and ask for advice. If your immediate upline can't help you, then call upline till you find someone who can. Get some books. Go to Seminars. Attend your company events. Above all, just focus your intention on launching THROUGH the problem area. If you do this, it will change your life.
